Please Note:
Today’s message from Holy Scripture is from 1 John in the New Testament (New Covenant) or “The Second Writings.” The translation I am using is called The Scriptures 2009 (TS-2009); it is written by excellent translators who are based in Africa. I will be sharing more and more from this translation since we have many new readers to our blog who come from the survivor community, and much of our trauma-based mind control “programming” has been perpetrated in the names of “God,” “Jesus,” or “Holy Spirit.”
I share this with you all because you may be unfamiliar with the actual names of God in Hebrew. Why does it matter? There is something so powerful in reading God’s (YHWH, Yahweh, or Yahuah) name in the original language (יהוה). Another name for God is Elohim.
Consider if your name was Miriam, but people translated it to Mary; the original meaning of your name would be lost, even though your parents probably put a lot of thought into naming you. Here is the meaning of Miriam:
Miriam means ‘beloved’ (from Egyptian ‘mry’), but as well ‘sea of bitterness’ or ‘drop of the sea’ Hebrew ‘mar/מַר’ = drop or ‘mará/מָרָה’ = bitterness + ‘yam/יָם’ = sea) and ‘star of the sea’ (from Hebrew’ maor/מאור’ = star/light). Besides, Miriam means ‘exalted one’ (from Hebrew’ róm/רוֹם’ = height), ‘rebelliousness’ (from Hebrew’ meri/מְרִי’) or ‘wished for child.’ (From Charlies-names.com)
Mary could be an alternative form of Miriam (Miryam), but it is not your name. Wouldn’t you appreciate hearing someone say your actual name? Imagine, then, that Elohim or Yeshua would prefer to listen to His name spoken as correctly as we can say it. It is a sign of respect.
Remember, “GOD” is a title, not a name; the same is true of Christ, Messiah, or Moshiach—Anointed One.
Jesus’s name is written with Hebrew letters like this: יהושע, And it is said, Yeshua (some say Yehoshua). Holy Spirit is Ruach HaKodesh.
Please do not let these names confuse you; in a short time, you will adapt to them, and it will become natural to think in these terms.
For those who wish to use another translation, please read the following verses in your favorite bible.

The Foundation of Healing is Love
Let’s dive in.
The disciple (learner) and apostle Jochanan (John) wrote the following to all believers:
(7) Beloved ones, let us love one another, because love is of Elohim, and everyone who loves has been born of Elohim, and knows Elohim. (8) The one who does not love does not know Elohim, for Elohim is love. (9) By this the love of Elohim was manifested in us, that Elohim has sent His only brought-forth Son into the world, in order that we might live through Him. (10) In this is love, not that we loved Elohim, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be an atoning offering for our sins. (11) Beloved ones, if Elohim so loved us, we also ought to love one another. (12) No one has seen Elohim at any time. If we love one another, Elohim does stay in us, and His love has been perfected in us. (13) By this we know that we stay in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. (14) And we have seen and bear witness that the Father has sent the Son, Saviour of the world. (15) Whoever confesses that is the Son of Elohim, Elohim stays in him, and he in Elohim. (16) And we have known and believed the love that Elohim has for us. Elohim is love, and he who stays in love stays in Elohim, and Elohim in him. (17) By this love has been perfected with us, in order that we might have boldness in the day of judgment, because as He is so are we in this world. (18) There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear holds punishment, and he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (19) We love Him because He first loved us. (20) If someone says, “I love Elohim,” and hates his brother, he is a liar. For the one not loving his brother whom he has seen, how is he able to love Elohim whom he has not seen? (21) And we have this command from Him, that the one loving Elohim should love his brother too. 1 John 4:7-21 TS-2009
Somehow, we have all gotten the picture that love is needed for us to heal. But LOVE has many translations, interpretations, and implied meanings.
I LOVE my spouse.
I LOVE my child.
I LOVE my pet.
I LOVE ice cream.
I LOVE that movie.
I LOVE her outfit.
I LOVE his home gym.
Sometimes, we believe that to love is to admire, envy, or covet something. Love can be a strong emotional attachment based on our needs. It can feel desperate or pitying, or it can be a thin thread connecting to a retreating burden; it will break at the first sign of strain.
We must sweep these ideas aside when we think of Elohim’s LOVE because, in this case, the LOVE radiates from Him to us.
We receive His love when we allow Him to deal with us, to wash us clean, and to remove our sins from us because of Yeshua’s sacrifice on our behalf; this is a mystery, yet it is boldly given to us, and the only way to unravel it is to plunge ourselves into its mainstream.
Many of us have been programmed to fear and hate the word “bl**d.” There is a devilish reason behind this—our enemy wants to cut us off from the only source of salvation, the bl**d of Yeshua. (As an exercise, ask Elohim, in the name of Yeshua, to break the programming concerning this word, bl**d, so that it no longer triggers you to read it.)
The same evil reason is behind using the precious names of Elohim and Yeshua in Greek-to-English—to cause fear and hatred within us when we hear those names.
But the NAME of YESHUA is the ONLY name given to humans by which we MUST be saved. There is no other. So, of course, the enemy will do his best to destroy our hope in our Messiah (Moshiach, anointed one). Now that we know this, we can fight the urge to run away when we hear those names.
Much about the Kingdom of Heaven is opposite to our worldly understanding.
Elohim is a holy God who cannot lie, be tempted, or sin. What He states as LAW can never be broken. Elohim decreed that: “THE SOUL THAT SINS MUST DIE.” Those who purposely disobey His LAW must be punished. That is JUSTICE.
Thinking about justice brings us to the realization that when WE do wrong, we want to escape punishment. But when OTHERS wrong us, we want them to be punished; this is fallen human nature.
But Elohim loved us so much that, in His MERCY, He also provided GRACE for those who would accept it and act on it; He sent His own son, Yeshua, to fulfill the requirement. Yeshua agreed and willingly laid down His life in exchange for everyone—whosoever would believe, repent, and walk in His ways.
Yeshua said, “LOVE YOUR ENEMIES AND PRAY FOR THEM.”
That is not the typical human response to being wronged. Instead of getting revenge or insisting on justice, we must “Forgive others as you have been forgiven.”
Now, we begin to touch on a crucial matter: forgiveness. Why is this important?
When we become “born again,” we become a new creation—children of the Living God, alive to Him, and able to look forward to living eternally with Him; this is such a huge statement, and it is well worth digging into to understand what it means. Through the sacrifice of Yeshua and the atonement He made for our sins, we have become changed. Through the promise of the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) to help us, we become empowered to live in this backward world with the strength, wisdom, and understanding given to all Elohim’s children who ask for it and put their trust in Him; this is why we can love with the LOVE of Elohim; this is called agape (pronounced uh-GAW-Pay), or unconditional love.
Elohim God loved the world so much that He gave His own son, Yeshua, to pay for our sins through His death on the cross; he was hated by the humans who nailed Him to a cross, but while they hated Him, He loved them by providing that sacrifice that was required so that they would live.
That is why we must love our enemies and do good to those who use us spitefully. We who trust in Him realize that we are to be like little anointed ones, little Christs, and to show the nature of the One who saved us to the ones who have not yet believed so that they, too, may repent and find salvation.
These verses from the above selection stand out:
(18) There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear holds punishment, and he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (19) We love Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:18-19 TS-2009
When I first learned I had to love like Yeshua loved, I found it easy to love what I liked already.
But I was young and foolish and didn’t understand the world or the Word of Elohim. I rebelled when I discovered that this meant I had to love my enemies. I dug in my heels and insisted that someone got it wrong. I was afraid to obey because I didn’t understand how to do it or what it really meant.
But when I put myself in verse 19—I love Him because He first loved ME—I realized that I was also His enemy when He died for me thousands of years ago (remember, Elohim is not locked into time, but humans are for as long as we live on this earth). So, I was a sinner like every other sinner, and I needed forgiveness and cleansing in order to walk in His love.
Once filled with HIS LOVE, I could take baby steps toward forgiving and loving others.
Did that mean I would trust those who had done me harm? NO!! It meant that I could let go of their throats (metaphorically) and allow God to deal with them because I was no longer the one sitting in judgment of them; I forgave them just as Yeshua forgave me. Wherever possible, I also told my enemies about Yeshua. That is real love.
I will have more to share on this subject. For now, I invite you to reread the above passage of scripture and meditate on it. It may help to keep a prayer journal and list the people who have harmed you so you can begin to work on forgiveness.
Forgiveness is a type of love.
Please remember that forgiveness does not equal trust. Forgiveness is primarily for the forgiving one, though sometimes the one who is forgiven will become sorry and make amends.
We don’t wait for someone else to apologize to forgive them because we know that Yeshua has already paid for our sins and expects us to walk in that forgiveness with others.
We would love to hear about your journey. When shared, your honest questions and struggles can become a starting point for deep understanding and benefit others. Please consider sharing your questions and comments in the comment section.
Until next time,
Shalom shalom,
